Public Relations Manager

Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP, one of the world?s leading global law firms over 4000 lawyers and staff in 30 offices, is currently seeking a Public Relations Manager. The Public Relations Manager is instrumental in executing the firm?s public and media relations strategies and supports the overall positioning of the firm?s transactional practice groups. This position is responsible for the development, execution, and supervision of both strategic initiatives and day-to-day public and media relations activities. The position interfaces with all levels of the firm, the media, and clients. Administrative responsibilities include public relations agency supervision and adherence to departmental budget.
Candidates must be self-motivated, committed to excellence in the workplace, and have excellent attention to detail. Intellectual curiosity and high levels of judgment, discretion, responsiveness, and initiative are also needed. This position requires flexibility with evening and weekend hours and occasional business travel.
Responsibilities:
? Works closely with the Director of Public Relations & Communications and other members of the public relations team to develop and execute the firm?s public relations strategy with a focus on the firm?s transactional practices, maintaining an uncompromised ability to respond quickly to current events and understanding of the mainstream and legal media environments.
? Manages communications and cultivates media relationships with writers, reporters, editors, and producers in local, regional, national, and international markets.
? Works closely with the marketing team to design public relations strategies aimed at supporting business development and develop in-depth expertise of partners in the transactional practices
? Positions and pitches lawyers to media as thought leaders in their areas of focus.
? Advises and supports firm leadership, lawyers, and professional staff in all media opportunities.
? Coordinates with outside public relations agencies on public relations strategy and day-to-day inquiries.
? Writes, edits, and distributes press releases and media advisories to announce firm news and reflect the firm?s position and goals; reviews, approves, and coordinates media releases and other media content from internal and external resources, agencies, and contractors.
? Analyzes results of the firm?s public and media relations efforts and recommends strategic action based on trends.
? Ensures timely coordination with Counsel on agreements for publication and article reprints to comply with intellectual property and ethical standards.
? Oversees maintenance of media contact list, including use of Meltwater platform.
? Leads by example and supports the development of other public relations team members by providing mentorship and coaching.
? Adheres to department budget and seeks opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce expenses by streamlining operations.
? Performs other duties as assigned.
Experience & Qualifications:
? Must possess a Bachelor's Degree in marketing, communications, journalism, or related field and have a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
? Excellent research and writing skills are required.
? Strong understanding of the legal media environment.
? Ability to develop relationships with a wide range of media contacts.
? Strong organizational, planning, team building, relationship, and communication skills are essential.
? Proven ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously while meeting tight deadlines.
? Excellent communication skills and ability to interface with clients, the media, and all levels of personnel within the organization.
? Results-oriented approach with the ability to effectively prioritize and balance competing demands
? Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to deal effectively with differing opinions and diverse personalities.
? Ability to work independently as well as manage projects and assignments in a collaborative team environment.
? Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to mentor staff.
? Strong analytical and problem solving skills; proactive; strategic thinker; ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw conclusions
? Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business and professional publications; write business correspondence, pitches and reports; and speak effectively with individuals, managers, clients, and vendors.
? Ability to solve practical problems, dealing with a variety of variables where little standardization exists
? Proficiency using social media tools and platforms (including HootSuite, Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn)
? Experience with media tracking tools; Meltwater highly preferred

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
